Luna Amara

Ansamblu vocal-instrumental Alternative Rock / Metal

LUNA AMARA (“bitter moon”) is one of the most successful alternative rock Romanian bands. Actually, it is more than a band, as its members are trying to create not only music, but to be a constant reminder of the social and political issues present in the day-by-day Romanian society.

Together with influences from Tool, Deftones, Porcupine Tree, Opeth, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam and others, LUNA AMARA brings an unique fusion between trumpet solos and heavy guitar riffs. Since it started, in 2000, the band played more than 700 shows, not only in Romania – where it has been on every major festival stage, but also in Hungary (at Sziget Festival 2005 and 2007), Bulgaria, Turkey, Germany, Holland and France (East West Fest 2006, Lille).

LUNA AMARA performed as an opening act for Paradise Lost, Clawfinger, Apocalyptica, Toy Dolls, HIM, The Exploited, Amorphis and Faith No More. All these bands represent different styles, so the ability to play with all of them proves that LUNA AMARA music is the intersection where all the souls of rock meet.

In 2009, LUNA AMARA toured Romania, promoting its 3rd album, “Don’t Let Your Dreams Fall Asleep”. This tour included 16 different cities. In 2010, LUNA AMARA opened the last day at Sonisphere Festival Romania, playing on the same stage with Anathema, Stone Sour, Alice In Chains and Rammstein.

On the 2nd of October 2010, LUNA AMARA performed as the opening act for the Ozzy Osbourne show in Bucharest. That show was the one to start a 10 years anniversary tour, which contained 18 dates. This summer (2011), the band opened for Deftones (Alternative Summer Day, Bucharest) and Iggy Pop (Peninsula/Felsziget Festival).

The band’s 4th studio album, “Pietre In Alb” (stones in white) was released on October 13th this year and the band started a national & international tour.
